Travel time: April 21,2017
I wondered why it is called “The Ruins“,that curiosity made this place on the list of my bucket lists.📝
It was around 4pm when we left the dorm and quickly find the means of transport going to this place. Since I have read that the best time to visit this place is when the sun is setting.🌅 When we arrived there we didn’t go directly to the structure since we wanted to wait for dusk.
The park was well kept. You can play around the area since it is so huge and wide with green grass all over the place.
The park also has a pond. A footbridge with lights illuminating gives a very relaxing effect.
And finally we’ve decided to go to the structure. There were many people already. They were quite busy taking photos of the place. As for me, I wanted to know how the place became just an attraction.
Built in the early 1900s by a Negrense sugar baron, Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson for his wife Maria Braga. Unfortunately, the mansion was set on fire during the early part of World War II by Filipino guerrilla fighters to prevent Japanese forces from using it as headquarters. Known to many as the “Taj Mahal of the Philippines” .
They have a guide who will tell you more about this place, however in our case we just roam around by ourselves. ‘ve taken only very few photos inside because the place was packed with tourists busy taking a pose in different areas of the structure.
So we went outside to see a better view of this masterpiece.
