A day trip to LAKAWON ISLAND 🏝

Travel period:  April 21,2017

We left the dorm around 7am and went directly to the North bound terminal. As we arrived in the Ceres terminal, I was looking for a signboard “CADIZ” however I couldn’t find one so I asked one of the people who were standing near the buses which bus would go to Cadiz, one man asked us if we were going Lakawon I nodded and he eventually told us one bus will pass by the Martesan, which I remembered  should be the place we needed to take a trike going to the port. 🚌

Luckily the bus left after 15 minutes. After almost 2 hours, the bus stopped  at Martesan. When we got off from the bus, some men were already approaching  us and asking if we were going to Lakawon. Took the first trike but the problem was,for the trike to go, we needed to pay the total amount of the supposed number of passengers, at first we declined,but after 10 minutes, there wasn’t anybody taking our trike so we had no choice but pay the total amount. 

The road was narrow. Very few vehicles are on the road. Wide farm of sugarcane can be seen on both sides. After about 15-20 minutes. We finally arrived at the wharf. There were many people already (perhaps because it is summertime ).I waited for my turn to pay. The woman gave us a paper which serves as our number in going to the boat. 

When our number was called. My sister and I together with other tourists went to our boat eagerly. ⛴

It was a smooth sailing boat ride. When I saw a familiar long bridge I knew then we were almost there. 🛳⚓️

The boat dock in a shallow area. Passengers    started get off and headed to the office.

A staff asked us if we were going to stay overnight or if we had booked a cottage. We told him we didn’t. Our plan was only to stay for a few hours we started to roam around the place. 

Let’s start with the beautiful long bridge. Some people actually were swimming just  under it. 😍

The swing situated just few metres beside the wooden bridge added a good concept for people who love taking photos. 

The cottages. 🏖 .The resort has a lot of cottages streching through the wide beach and at that time only few cottages were occupied. 

We  continued to just walk around. I noticed my tan skin getting enough sun and I forgot to take a sunblock with me.I felt the sand on my feet, yes, this place doesn’t have a powdery sand like Boracay, however the white sand and clear water made this place so one of the popular islands here in Visayas. 

We felt hungry and decided to go to the restaurant. The resort’s restaurant is really big. Chairs and tables were so-so. They have an air conditioned area for people who might want privacy but you have to pay extra for it. 

They had several food choices and we didn’t know the serving would be so much! 😂 .I think the food is goos for 2-4 people.Price was okay considering the serving. 

After lunch, we were staying at the waiting area. This area is where people wait for the boat to get back to the main island. I wonder how would it feels like staying here overnight. 

I would love to stay at the floating bar if I have the chance to visit the place again. 

Anyhow, I am very much satisfied with this getaway. My summer 2017 has a great story. 

Haha.. Inspire by the famous “holding hands travel couples” however our partners are far from us..

** Cards are accepted as mode of payment. I think the expenses would have been lesser if you are travelling  in groups since you can divide the trike and food as well.**
